St Mary's Class 4 (2001) Dragon Art

During an art lesson, having studied "Smaug's attack" from The Hobbit in Literacy, I asked the children to draw either from life (I took in some Pewter dragons) or from imagination, a picture of a dragon. These are some of the results...

by Mike - using pencil at different pressures, he got some really good bold effects - even shiny wings from the graphite in the pencil!
by Jack H. - using a mixture of pencil, coloured pencil and pen Jack drew a striking dragon. Notice the scaley pattern on the dragon's tum.
by Yasmin - Yasmin turned the grey pewter model into a very colourful pencil picture.
by Zac - what particularly stands out in Zac's picture is the amazing rain texture. Drawn in pencil.
by Libby - This dragon looks right at you when you see it. Maybe it's thinking "I wonder if anyone will notice I've just bitten off someone's head!"
by Peter - this really is Pete's Dragon! A detailed study of the Pewter dragon. Again, good choice of colours.
by Sophie B. - The Red/cyan combination of colours is striking (there's a proper term for that - red is opposite cyan on the colour wheel), and the scales in pencil give it a really good texure.
"The Loving Dragons" one of the Pewter dragons the children got some of their ideas from.
